Mrs Pamela Oddy
Hello my name is Pamela Oddy and I am the Competitions Officer for the RLSS Wessex Branch. My role is to organise and run the Branch Lifesaving Competition each year, from which the top three competitors or teams in each age group, go on to compete in the South Region Competition (joining the winners from Thames Valley, Jersey, and Isle of Wight branches). The winners from the Regional Competition go on to compete at the National Lifesaving Championships, competing against the winners from all other 15 RLSS Regional winners. I can also support any clubs that are interested in competitions to become involved, by either organising a small club competition or helping you to organise and run a bigger competition. I also support teams who have entered competitions with their training and skills development for competitions. If I can help in any other way about competitions then please feel free to contact me. Mrs Sonia Hughes The Hon Treasurer must keep an accurate record of all financial transactions of the Branch and maintain accurate records, ensuring banking is done promptly, keeps the Branch Management Committee informed of the financial position of the Branch. The Hon Treasurer is required to submit financial reports to RLSS HQ at the end of each quarter and the end of the financial year (31 December). A financial statement should be presented to members at the Branch Annual General Meeting. The Branch Management Committee should determine the rules for paying expenses. It is important that those carrying out activities on behalf of the Branch know for what they can claim.

Mrs Jill Bailey
The Public Relations Officer produces the Wessex Branch Newsletter and updates the website. In addition, the PRO seeks opportunities to publicise the work of RLSS UK throughout Dorset, Hampshire and South Wiltshire. Mr Roger Harris
THE ROLE OF THE HONORARY SECRETARY (In a nutshell - an unpaid volunteer who keeps secrets!) The Secretary is the nerve-centre (nervous, & self centred) of the Branch, not merely (not even) a typist, and writer of agendas and minutes (takes hours). The holder is a mine of info (which I keep secret) and should know what the Branch Officers are doing (some hope!). The Secretary is your link to the Branch Management Committee (so you had better be nice to me, if you want something done). The Secretary does have some duties that are regular, repetitive and low profile (tell me about it), but by doing all these things well, the Secretary can get enormous satisfaction (become big-headed) and enjoy the pleasure and excitement that they bring (get real!). The word POWER does not feature in the job description. Roger Harris Present Wessex Branch Incumbent (until this gets published).

Mr Andy Ackroyd The Branch is responsible for ensuring high quality in the delivery of the RLSS UK Training and Assessing programme. The Branch Lifesaving Co-ordinator role includes monitoring and promoting the delivery of training and assessing modules; providing essential support and advice for Trainer Assessors, National Trainer Assessors, Assistant Teachers and Rookie Trainers; co-ordinating the provision of training and assessing modules; liaising with other Branches and RLSS UK Headquarters regarding training and assessing issues; monitoring and recording training and assessing activities in the Branch; maintaining and promoting consistently high training and assessing standards; maintaining effective quality assurance and complaint procedures. Mrs Brenda Palk To be completed shortly Miss Emily Ayres I am a committee member without a portfolio. My main task on the committee is keeping the website up together, and working correctly! I helped put this website together as part of my University dissertation, and will continue working on it for time to come. If you have any suggestions for the site, please use the contact form on the site, or e-mail me and the Public Relations Officer and we will see what we can do. I have been involved with lifesaving for quite a few years as an internal club trainer, and also taking part in a number of competitions.
