Welcome to the Wessex Rookie Lifeguard page. Here you will find a link to the main Rookie website, along with a list of clubs that are currently running a Rookie programme. What is the Rookie Lifeguard Programme? The  Rookie Lifeguard programme introduces the basic skills of lifesaving to children learning to swim. The awards are aimed at ages 8-12 years, and progressively teach Survival, Rescue, Lifesaving Sport, Life Support and Water Safety Skills in a fun filled package. The core awards are Rookie Bronze, Silver, and Gold, with stand alone awards available. Rookie can take place in a club environment or as an extension to swimming lessons as the awards are also incorporated into the ASA National Plan for Teaching Swimming and deliver all of the required water safety elements of the National Curriculum at Key Stage Two. There are no prerequisites for these awards.
