Assistant Teacher (Lifesaving) This is the introductory qualification to the Trainer Assessor programme. The syllabus trains the key lifesaving teaching skills and holders of the award are able to assist with the teaching of Lifesaving. The minimum candidate age for this qualification is 14 years. The prerequisites for the Assistant Teacher are to hold a Bronze Medallion or National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches and a current Life Support Award. | | Mentor (Lifesaving, Pool Lifeguard, Beach Lifeguard) Mentors provide support and advice within the education and training programme across all disciplines. Qualification is by training and appointment, for more information contact the Branch Lifesaving Co-ordinator or RLSS UK HQ at River House.
| Rookie Instructor This qualification is specific to the instruction of the Rookie Lifeguard awards. Candidates who cannot qualify through approved prior learning channels will develop a comprehensive knowledge of the Rookie Lifeguard programme and will be able to show the essential Lifesaving, teaching, class management, and health and safety skills and knowledge required to instruct the Rookie Lifeguard awards. | | National Trainer Assessor (NTA) (Lifesaving, Pool Lifeguard, Beach Lifeguard) This qualification is held by those who deliver the Trainer Assessor Programme and its training. NTAs are responsible for training, mentoring, and monitoring the standards of TAs nationally. The minimum candidate age for these qualifications is 18 years. | Trainer Assessor (TA) (Lifesaving, Pool Lifeguard, Beach Lifeguard) The Trainer Assessor qualification is for those who wish to train and assess a range of the Society's awards and qualifications. Once you have completed the Core Modules of Units 1-3, candidates then go on to completed their Specialist Module of either Pool, Beach, or Lifesaving. The minimum candiate age for these qualifications is 18 years. The prerequisites for the qualifications are discipline specific, please contact the Branch Lifesaving Co-ordinator or River House for more information.
